Long term car parking provision at both Ilkley and Bowness is limited. If at all practicable, we recommend that parties walking the Dales Way, travel from their homes by public transport. There are rail stations with good services at both Ilkley and Windermere. This also saves the cost and time in travelling back to regain a car.
Public Transport is available along many parts of the Dales Way although not always very frequent. Details are given in the Dales Way Handbook or check Internet Links on this site. A reasonable journey is possible by bus & train between Ilkley and Windermere (or vice versa). Usually 3 to 4 hours. Alternatively taxi services run by our Members as below are available.
